| Returning a
fine piece of tack to its as good or better than original condition is
a work of art. Our goal is to restore these pieces back to their former
useful and sound condition. as well as making an effort to preserve a bit
of history. We use the finest leathers, materials & authentic embossing
for saddle restoration accuracy. Restoration is a great way to keep tradition
alive, to honor the exceptional knowledge, and workmanship, of our nineteenth
century master saddle makers.
There is nothing like the old Cadillac of Saddles of years ago, but
time has played a roll on these hard to find type of saddles. The ones
that have been used a lot and the ones left around, are in need of complete
restoration, if one wants to keep an heirloom or just to ride the comfort
of the past. You don't know until you tear the saddle apart what all has
worn, right down to the tree. I try to restore them just as they have been
years ago, except use more up to date fillers that hold up better to last
longer. Like the pads that go under the saddle tree. The under panels,
are filled with wool felt, instead of hog hair and it still conforms to
the horse but doesn't break down and flatten like the hog hair.
In doing a restoration of a Minihan style of a Plantation saddle,
there are no short cuts made.
* Tree is repaired (if cracked, broke or loose) then fiberglassed. If
the tree is not deteriorated. I can fix most trees.
*All new padding, good quality of leather.
*Wool felt is used for the under pads so it will not compact as
quickly as the hair. But still looks like the original pad under the old
ones.
*Seat is stitched, stuffed and quilted by hand to get a nicer fit on
the seat.
*All new stainless steel hardware is used where there is a need for
ties, crouper and buckles..
*Wooden style, wide stirrups come with these saddles unless specified
otherwise.
Price is $1200.00 for restoration.
We try to keep things simple, so everything is included in the price,
even the tax.
Before shipping your saddle hardware to us for
recovering, please email or phone to confirm that we can restore your particular
type of saddle. Sorry, if this is an inconvenience, but otherwise we would
get dozens of saddles sent to us that we can not restore.
Authenticity and quality workmanship are our standards.
